Take the Biofuel Pledge
"If the BioTruck team can make it all the way to Timbuktu on Biodiesel, I pledge that my next tank will be Biofuel."
See who else has taken it. |
Run your car on Biodiesel
Unfortunately true Biodiesel isn't available on every street. Although some recognized filling stations sell what they call Biodiesel, its actually blended with only 5% biodiesel and the rest is traditional fossil diesel.
So if you want to run your car on biodiesel you are left with a couple of choices. There are a number of local suppliers around the UK that provide sell biodiesel with a pump or in bulk. Most can arrange to have the fuel delivered to your door, but you will need somewhere safe to store it. Biodiesel isn't highly flammable like petrol, but storing it does require some thought and planning.
To find your nearest one try these directories:

The other alternative is to make your own. Ecotec has designed a range of processing equipment specially for domestic users to make their own fuel in the shed. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to make your own fuel, it's no more complicated than baking a cake. The processing units are affordable, simple to use and Ecotec also provide training so you'll learn everything you need to know about biodiesel cookery.

Making your own biodiesel has the big advantage that it can work out as cheap as 20-30p litre, but also you will know exactly what the carbon cutting credentials of the fuel are based on the raw ingredients you use.
he BioTruck will be delivering one of Ecotec's Etruk-100 units to a Malian charity which will be used to help local women recycle their used cooking oil and earn a little extra cash.
