Take the Biofuel Pledge

"If the BioTruck team can make it all the way to Timbuktu on Biodiesel, I pledge that my next tank will be Biofuel."

See who else has taken it.

We're in! After 6 days of running backwards and forwards between the various Customs offices, the Transitaire and the British Consul in Tangiers we eventually got all the paperwork they asked for to allow us in. We'd never have done it without the enthusiasm and energy of the British Consul in Tangiers who whipped everyone into shape.

It felt like all our efforts to cut carbon emissions had been outweighed by the small rainforest that had to be felled to provide the paper for our customs “Dossier”. Anyone who has watched Dad's Army will have an idea of how organised the Moroccan customs are.

With 6 days delay we had no choice but to power through Morocco and we only had one rest day in Casablanca with friends that treated us like kings, with Merguez, Couscous, and Tagine.

We're now in Mauritania , and had the same problems getting in here too. Thankfully the level of corruption here is so much higher than Morocco and a few well placed Euros greased the way in and we only spent 24 hours in the customs pound of Nouadibou. It feels like we are on a tour of African Customs facilities.

The temperatures are rising and the truck is running very well with its summer biofuel.

We've met lots of people that have heard of the expedition and their support and encouragement makes every challenge something we face with enthusiasm.

We now have a rest day in Nouakchott and then we set off with our Customs escort Bamba who is nice enough but is making us step up the pace.
