Take the Biofuel Pledge

"If the BioTruck team can make it all the way to Timbuktu on Biodiesel, I pledge that my next tank will be Biofuel."

See who else has taken it.

The Route

The team will be driving a Ford Iveco Cargo from 1989 that was used by car auctioneers and was about to be scrapped. It has a flatbed and will be carrying two 4x4 Landcruisers from the mid 80's, and 1500ltrs of fuel.

The truck gives the expedition the fuel carrying capacity to tackle the 6000km drive through France , Spain , Morocco and Mauritania to a small town called Douenza in Mali , 200km (140miles) short of Timbuktu . Many will be surprised to learn that up to Douenza the route is a mixture of tarmac, potholes and corrugated dust tracks, all of which can be completed with a 2-wheel-drive vehicle.

From Douenza there is a difficult rutted and sandy track that requires 4-wheel-drive, so we will park up the biotruck, fill the 4x4s with the remaining biodiesel and take the 2-day route to Timbuktu .
