Take the Biofuel Pledge

"If the BioTruck team can make it all the way to Timbuktu on Biodiesel, I pledge that my next tank will be Biofuel."

See who else has taken it.

First Ever Carbon Negative Expedition

- Powered by Chocolate -

across the Sahara Desert to Timbuktu

November 26 th 2007 is the departure of the world's first Carbon Negative vehicle expedition from the UK to Timbuktu , in Mali , West Africa .

Andy Pag, 34 from London and John Grimshaw, 39 from Poole , will drive the 4568 miles to the desert city using a specially prepared Biodeisel fuel made with waste chocolate!

The fuel, developed in Preston by biodiesel producers Ecotec, is designed to create the lowest carbon footprint possible.

As well as using the special fuel, the team will be taking a small biodiesel production unit to a local charity in Mali , MFC, who will use it to produce biodiesel locally from sustainable sources.

The expedition's Carbon Footprint is being independently quantified by analysts at CarbonAided.

BioTruck driver Pag says “A lot of people don't realise that when Biodiesel is made correctly, any unmodified diesel engine will run on it, and with the network of producers around the UK growing, it's getting easier for motorists to buy it.”

The expedition is aiming to raise awareness of how Biofuels can help to cut carbon emissions and dispel the common misconceptions and confusion surrounding environmental fuels.

The BioTruck team will be holding a press conference and demonstrating how they make fuel from chocolate on the 14 th of November at Ecotec's Production unit in Preston . Please confirm attendance in advance with andy@biotruck.co.uk as space is limited.
